Main responsibilities of the committee:
1. Development Planning and Project Formulation

Development Planning: Planning plans for the overall development of the Gram Panchayat.

Socio-Economic Planning: Formulating programs aimed at social and economic growth.

Special Planning: Planning taking into account the geographical features of the area.

The Panchayat plays an important role in preparing annual plans and presenting them in the Gram Sabhas and getting their approval.

2. Major Development Areas

This committee oversees the activities of the important development areas of the Panchayat. These include:

Agriculture: Agricultural production, seed distribution, fertilizer, irrigation, etc.

Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development: Animal husbandry programs and growth of the dairy sector.

Soil Conservation: Projects to maintain soil fertility.

Social Forestry: Tree plantation and environmental awareness programs.

Minor Irrigation: Implementation of minor irrigation projects.

Fisheries: Development of the fisheries sector.

Small-Scale Industries: Promotion of local industries.

Public Works: Construction and maintenance of roads, buildings, etc. under the Panchayat (sometimes there may be a separate committee for this, but matters related to development will come under this committee).

Housing: Implementation and supervision of housing projects.

3. Energy and Infrastructure

Rural Electrification, Non-Conventional Energy Sources: Installation, maintenance of street lights, and other energy conservation projects.

4. Project Implementation and Supervision

Ensure that all projects under the committee are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

Evaluate the progress of the projects and make corrections if necessary.

Coordinate activities as per the instructions of the working groups and gram sabhas.

In short, the important duties of the Development Affairs Standing Committee are to determine the direction of the development of the gram panchayat, plan the plans for it and ensure their implementation.
